Inuit
This story comes from the Inuit of the Ungava district, the region now called Nunavik in northern Quebec. Inuit have lived in this land of tundra, coast and sea ice for more than four thousand years, and their language is still spoken by nearly everyone there.
Today about fourteen thousand people live in the fourteen northern villages of Nunavik (2021 census).
