Zuni

The Zuni (A:shiwi) have lived in their pueblo in the high desert of western New Mexico for many centuries, and the Zuni language is still widely spoken. Their stories were recorded in the 1880s by Frank Hamilton Cushing, who lived at Zuni for several years.

Today about 8,400 Zuni live on the reservation (Bureau of Indian Affairs).
