How the Deer Got His Horns

In the beginning the Deer had no horns. The animals set up a race between Deer, the great runner, and Rabbit, the great jumper, with a fine pair of antlers as the prize. Rabbit is caught gnawing a shortcut through the thicket, so the horns go to the Deer, who has worn them ever since.
