The Generous Woodcutter

A woodcutter goes into the forest, and tree after tree begs him to spare its life. He listens to every one, and the Forest Father rewards him with a golden rod that makes the creatures of the forest work for him, warning him never to wish for the impossible. The gift keeps his family in plenty for generations, until a grandson asks the rod to bring the sun down from the sky.
