Wyandot (Wendat)
The Wyandot are descendants of the Wendat (Huron) confederacy of the Great Lakes. Their stories were recorded in the 1890s by William Connelley among Wyandot families in Kansas and Indian Territory.
Today about seven thousand people belong to the Wyandotte Nation of Oklahoma and about five thousand to the Huron-Wendat Nation at Wendake in Quebec, with smaller communities in Kansas and Michigan.
