An old man of the Bear Clan has lost both his daughters and his wife. When giant hawks circle the lake and one falls to the shore, he alone walks toward it, and in the ashes of the flame that consumes it he finds his first-born daughter, alive. She brings a gift for her people: the seeds of the tobacco plant.

This film was made together with collaborators from the Lakota, Inuit, Tohono O'odham, Diné, Sámi, Finnish and Estonian peoples.
